Ragtime: The Musical at Greenville Little Theatre

Wednesday, March 7 was filled with music and revelry as The Woodlands at Furman sponsored an evening performance of Ragtime: The Musical at the Greenville Little Theatre. Over 500 people were in attendance to watch the musical, enjoy drinks and light hors-d’oeuvres, and mingle with friends. The audience was comprised of both residents and employees of The Woodlands and members of the Greenville community. It was striking to see so many people in attendance to see a live, theatrical performance on a Wednesday night in lovely, downtown Greenville, SC.

Ragtime is a Tony Award-winning musical based on the novel by E.L. Doctorow. Through song, it follows the lives of three very distinct groups as they traverse American life in the early 1900s. Historical figures such as Harry Houdini, Booker T. Washington, and Henry T. Ford interact with the characters and bring this story to life. The Greenville Little Theatre’s performance features an excellent cast that includes Delvin Choice who was a top finalist of NBC’s The Voice in 2014.

One of the many reasons the residents love being a part of The Woodlands is the involvement in the Greenville community, particularly in the arts. Greenville boasts a thriving, eclectic downtown that offers live music, varied theater, visual arts, and excellent dining options. Being a part of The Woodlands means also being a part of all that Greenville has to offer. Now, with The Woodlands offering 28 free-standing Villas, there are even more reasons to choose to retire in this flourishing senior living community.
