Carolina Snow

By Cindy Larson

Flakes at work, building a new world

as tracks mark the response.

Slippery sled rides, carefree foot slides,

recreating, navigating, diamond delight.

Ice encases all in porcelain glaze.

Brilliant berries emerge, branches extend

pungent sustenance to weary wildlife.

Violas peek, searching for sanctuary.

Sun’s rays soften the blanket.

Frigid nights invite unbalancing, black ice.

Its ready bludgeon catches the incautious.

Fog…impressionist painter, mutes the scene.

Crystal pirouettes chase

homeward bound silhouettes.

Fireside respite escorts dreams

of swiftly sliding into Spring.

Take advantage of everything The Woodlands offers. (There’s a lot.)
