At The Woodlands, you're not retired, you're re-inspired

We believe that the best way to live life, at any age, is by staying active, healthy, and connected. That philosophy is reflected in the multiple opportunities you get at The Woodlands to keep your mind active and your body rejuvenated.

For example, The Woodlands has many on-site options for you to explore that will keep you young, active, and engaged, including:

The Fitness Center

A variety of cardio and strength-building equipment will strengthen your body and improve your stamina. We also offer various classes such as yoga and even belly dancing.

Beauty salon, barbershop, & spa

Tired after all that activity? Enjoy a relaxing massage at the spa. Maybe you just want to treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure. Or better yet, go all out and reinvent yourself with the latest hairstyle.

Arts and Crafts Studio

Feeling artistic? Get creative here and explore talents you never even knew you had on your own or with instruction from a professional artist.

Media Room

Large comfortable chairs...a high-quality large-screen TV... surround sound. Seeing a good movie doesn't get better than this.

In addition, our affiliation with Furman University challenges your mind and your body. Why not take classes at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) or join the state-of-the-art Physical Activities Center (PAC)?

Physical Activities Center (PAC)

The newly renovated Physical Activities Center is a state-of-the-art hub for recreational activities. It offers 12,000 square feet of exciting choices to stay active, from a large swimming pool, to a dance studio, yoga studio, exercise and weightlifting equipment, and handball/racquetball courts. There are even badminton and volleyball courts. As a resident at The Woodlands, you'll have access to this remarkable facility to maintain your active lifestyle at a reduced fee.

Hiking/Walking

Furman is participating in the "Rails to Trails" program in Greenville, which is converting the abandoned Swamp Rabbit rail line to a 13-mile trail for cyclists, runners, and walkers. It extends from Linky Stone Park in downtown Greenville through the Furman campus to just north of Travelers Rest. It will be connected to Furman's existing trail system, creating a seamless transition for those on Furman's campus.

Golf

The Furman Golf Course offers 18 holes of pure challenge, including a couple of water hazards, yet, it's still forgiving. At more than 3,000 yards, it makes for a day well spent with friends.
