Meet our Residents

Ed & Suzanne Hilger | Residents since 2010
"We didn't leave home; it's right here with us."

The Hilgers have always believed in fate. They immediately fell in love with The Woodlands, and as avid golfers, they especially liked the idea of the Furman University golf course being just minutes from their front door. But selling their house in a lean economy had them worried — so when their house sold in less than a month, they took it as a sign that The Woodlands was meant to be their new home…and they've lived here happily ever since!

Moffett Kendrick | Residents since 2009
"It was the best decision we could have made."

Moffett Kendrick and his wife Helen credit The Woodlands for "putting us in control of our own destiny." At the Upstate's only Life Care community, the Kendricks have access to on-site care at predictable rates for the rest of their lives — so they never have to worry about becoming a burden for their children. Instead, Moffett is able to focus on all the interesting things he can enjoy — like practicing his golf swing every morning at the Furman University golf course right across the street.

Cathi & Kerry Gough | Residents since 2010
"We like the idea that we have access to so much on the Furman campus."

When Cathi Gough first heard about The Woodlands from her husband Kerry, she didn't plan on liking it — but one visit changed her mind. "We had not seen anything like it," says Cathi. Now the Goughs are busy students of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute program at Furman University — and right at home at The Woodlands.
